Snowmass is a winter wonderland, receiving more average snowfall than most North American ski destinations at about 350 inches per year and 300 days of sunshine. Each winter locals and visitors take part in Snowmass’s endless recreation from alpine skiing to snowboarding, sleigh rides to dog sledding, snowmobiling to snowshoeing.
In the summertime, Snowmass offers warm, sunny days and crisp, starry nights. Spend the day fly fishing, hiking, or mountain biking. or play the 36 hole disc golf course. The Snowmass area is also home to several golf courses, as challenging as they are picturesque.

The International Mountain Bicycling Association designated the Roaring Fork Valley IMBA Ride Center a Gold Level Ride Center. 300 miles of high-quality single track await you including Snowmass Mountain’s Bike Park, the Snowmass Rim Trail, and more! Snowmass now offers world-class mountain biking in the summer.
Snowmass Mountain Lodging offers guests secure, private bike storage and a complimentary cleaning station at 4 Mountain Sports. Not bringing your own bike? Our concierge can help you rent a bike to enjoy all of the trails.
HOT AIR BALLOON RIDES
Do you dream of floating above the mountain tops? Then a hot air balloon ride in Snowmass Village is the perfect experience for you! Hot air balloon rides provide an incredible vantage point of Snowmass Village, Mount Daly, and the Elk Mountain Range. Rides depart soon after sunrise because the mountain winds are minimal and the surroundings are serene. However, our mornings can be a little chilly so make sure you dress in layers. You’ll travel up to 2,500 feet in the air and may land in several areas within Snowmass Village.
ICE SKATING
Centrally located in Snowmass Base Village, the ice rink located next to The Collective is open in the winter months to skaters of all abilities. This perfect activity for families allows those not skating to sit by an outside fire with a beverage. Rentals are available and there are two additional rinks at the Snowmass Rodeo Grounds and the Top of Elk Camp Gondola.
WINTER SPORTS
Aside from skiing and snowboarding down Snowmass's expansive ski trails, additional winter sports available include snow bikes, guided snowmobile tours, and snowshoeing.
Connect with nature when you venture out on foot and take in the beauty of Snowmass. Snowshoe rentals and tours are available for your day off skiing or a perfect activity for non-skiers.
